Everybody, I got my rune back in the mail today! I can use it to send you places, so if anybody ever wants help going somewhere you can just ask me! Then school and work and the ice cream place won't seem so far away anymore, if you think they're far away. Oh, also I---ah......ah.....ah.........

[This is followed by the sound of someone dropping the telephone! and then failing to hang up. Oops?]

[Hello Mayfield. How's life today? Are you at home? At work? School? Going shopping, maybe? Wherever you are, there is now also a Viki. She might even have landed on you! Don't worry though, she's not hurt!

Earlier you were sayin' there's a war goin' on wherever you go. What was happenin' at that there Budehuc place?

LJ's gotta fix that sleep schedule.

Oh, um. We were fighting somewhere east of Budehuc! I remember there were some ruins and the whole army went there. The castle was always safe.

[So much safer than the other places she's been. Weren't they fighting a friend of hers though...? She can't remember exactly, but it brings a slight frown to her face nonetheless.]

[Gat picks up on the frown on Viki's face. Though in his mind, he's thinking there's something she's not telling him.]

[She shakes off the frown pretty easily, resuming her usual smile. Whatever was bothering her can wait for some other time.]

Well—what did ya'll call th' country you lived in? An' th' nation it was a part of?

[Gesturing to himself.]

I reckon you ain't too familiar with th' idea of star systems, but before I came here, I lived in th' Gurhal System, on th' planet Parum. My original homeworld's called Coral, though.

You live in stars?? Wow wow, that's amazing!

Um, I've been to lots of different countries, but the one I was in before this was.....the Island Nations? Yeah, that sounds right. And I met Caesar in the Grasslands and Millie in the Jowston City-States, only I think the City-States are called something else now.

[Gat chuckles at that idea.]

A star system is th' star an' any worlds that's orbitin' it. Th' world you live on is part of one, with' th' sun bein' its own star.

An' th' Gurhal System has three worlds of its own. Parum's one of 'em.

So that'd mean you've spent most of your time in various places back home, an' that Mayfield would be th' second world you've been to?

Yeah, yeah, that sounds right. Other worlds are a lot prettier than I expected.

They can be, yeah. Planets can be pretty diverse if they've got a good biosphere goin'. Even th' ones that don't, sometimes.

Biosphere? [She follows his gaze outside, but the meaning of the word still eludes her.]

I'm glad they're diverse, though. If they were all the same it'd be kind of boring.

Biosphere means th' whole environment of th' planet, an' all things livin' in it.

[Or at least, that's part of the definition.]

That sorta thing's more common knowledge in my time. I don't consider myself all that smart.

Really? So everybody knows all these things where you're from? I wish I could know that much.

It's somethin' that's taught in school, I'm sure.

[Of course, Gat wouldn't know that from personal experience, since he's normally an android ... Though Gat looks back over to Viki with a bit of a grin.]

Don't go discountin' yourself, now. I'm sure that teleportin' skill ya got took a lot of studyin' to learn. Ain't somethin' I'll ever know how to do, I can tell ya that much.

[She'd totally forgotten!....Actually she doesn't really remember studying it. But it must have happened, yes!]

Maybe if I study hard enough, I'll learn all sorts of other things too! Like how to go to other worlds, that'd be really fun.

[But hey, if it could happen to Gat, it could happen to Viki! That's how he sees it. And she's guaranteed to be in every Suikoden game ever, after all.]
